I’ve started working on my Deathwing.
First, I based my terminators flat white with White Knight spray paint from Bunnings Warehouse. The spray can didn’t give a great prime job, in places there is quite a rough texture to the models. I was very disappointed, but decided to push on.
I picked out sections to be painted with The Army Painter Warpaints, using the colours Greedy Gold, Angel Green (how ironic =) and Pure Red. A very basic paintjob, but I have always painted this way and I am usually happy with the results (and they always get positive public feedback). It’s no Golden Demon paintjob, but it’s how I roll.
This was the original scheme I had in mind, but the look was just terrible. I decided to return to a trusty method: The Army Painter Quickshade. I prefer to paint on the shade, rather than dipping models into the tin, as it provides greater control and an ability to remove any pooling.
I used the lightest Quickshade, called Soft Tone.
And there are LOTS of Terminators!!!!
A closer look at the awesome shoulder pads and shields from Scibor Monstrous Miniatures. I also have two sets of extra armour/doors for when I get some new Land Raiders.
I had a 3v3 mega-battle last night at my local gaming club (KRAGS). I played Necrons, and was paired up with the other alien scum; Orks and Tyranids. We were versing Grey Knights, Dark Angels and Imperial Guard. It was a brutal and enjoyable game with the aliens annihilating the scoreboard. I was almost wiped out by the Imp Guard (across the table from me), but it also tied a large chunk of bodies up in a section of the board that only had 1 objective.
Having seen the Dark Angels marines in person, and with my new scheme moving more to bone than pure white, I am now feeling really tempted to expand into the rest of the Dark Angels army… when I have finances for it. Might have to give up my beloved Black Templars for a new SMarine army. Decisions Decisions…
Wazza Out. =D
